I keep getting pre approvals in the mail. Anyone have any experience with this?
I tried applying with them recently, mainly because CreditKarma recommended it. They do a soft pull on TransUnion. I was approved for $15k at 23.99% for the basic Upgrade Card. I have a lot of new accounts and high utilization at the moment, so I was surprised to be approved at all. But, it was a pretty easy process. I took their offer and used the card to consolidate some balances into one payment. As I understand it, you can pay in full to avoid interest. But if you carry a balance, they convert it into a fixed payment program. Not sure how it reports yet. I am also not sure if their cards with rewards differ from the basic one. Now, they have a couple of
cash back cards and a BTC rewards card.
I don't have any experience with them, but when i stumbled upon a few months back I did some digging. This thread calls out our findings. Hope it helps
I think it is still unclear if you can use the card, pay in full, avoid interest, and not have a loan report. I used the cash option in mine and it immediately showed up in the account as a loan with a set payment amount and term. They did tell me the number of months and payment amount before I put in the request, which was helpful. After all, I'll be using this to consolidate some balances. Not sure about the viability of it for anything else.
I was offered their "Triple Cash Visa credit card" but wanted to know if this product reports to the CRA as an installment loan or revolving credit:
I started getting offers in the mail and it sounded pretty good....until I did some research on the site. It appears that you get the card and a separate line of credit, but using the card for anything pretty much pulls from the line of credit and interest starts accruing immediately. It seems like they're basically Credit One with a large limit. I instantly shred all the stuff that they send me now.
