Decent chance.. They use mortgage scores form all 3.. How many inquiries and what is your utilization at?  Considering you have had the QS1 about a year I actually think you hae a good shot.  What makes you want the Vetnure One card though out of curiousity vs. say venture or a regular QS or pc'ing the QS one to a regular QS?  The only real good thing about the Venture one is 0 APR for 12 months the QS beats out the earning of Venture one and the regular Venture can be Pc'ed to a QS before the AF comes.

edit: need to learn to read 30 % utilization.

4 inquieries, last one was 9 months ago.

Well, I want two cards. I travel for work every week, and I have to expense everything on my own card, then my company pays it back. So, I want to separate personal expenses and work expenses. It's just better, to keep track of my personal expenses and it's also easier to manage and do my finances.

I have the Discover IT Miles, a Wells Fargo card, and the Barclay's Apple. I travel abroad so Discover is not as widely accepted and the other two charge a 3% foreign transaction fee.

I guess I could try applying for the regular QS, but I was thinking of upgrading my QS One to a regular QS. Why not a regular Venture? Well I was thinking I have better chances of getting a Venture One.

What do you think?

Edited: If I'm denied or my chances are not good enough then I'm considering the MLife card. I'm guessing it isn't hard getting one, right? I go to Vegas a lot, no annual and no foreign transaction fee... that's all I need.

I would go for the venture vs. venture one as same UW if you want the better of the two then can PC before AF hits to venture one or QS.. Regarding MLIFE that is underwritten by FNBO and they are very hard to get an in with.  You might have a chance with them, but capital one is certainly going to be alot easier than FNBO for an approval.. I say go for the venture as you have a 70%ish chance IMO of getting approved although nothing with credit is guranteed in life and is a YMMV type scenario.  Only bad thing about Cap1 is they pull all three CRA's.  Let me know how you decide to go and the outcome best of luck.. BTW just got the MLIFE card myself a few weeks back I was shocked I was approved with all my new accounts/inquires, but also have a very thick CR.  Venture > MLIFE card imo.  I got rid of Cap1 out of my life about 8 months ago for other reasons, they are a good lender to many though!

Re: Venture One chances

If I apply to both which one should I do first? Capital One pulls all three so maybe I should do Mlife?

Re: Venture One chances

Mlife I would guess if you want both as FNBO is more inquire sensitive.. MLIFE will not be instant and go into manual review.   Mine took about 3 days to get approved.  Applied I believe on a sunday and got the approval verification call on a tuesday if I recall.. Alot of people have to wait about 10+ days to hear either way, but every application with FNBO goes to manual review even if instant I believe.

So if you want both do FNBO first as that is a 99% chance of Exp pull most likely although mine was EQ(curse them).  Then Cap1 will be a triple pull against all 3 cra's.

Re: Venture One chances

I gotta comment.

Think of this:

Quicksilver is 1.5% cash back. No restrictions on purchases.

Venture One is 1.25 points back. Restriction: Travel Only.

Venture is 2 points back. Restriction: Travel Only.

Tally up how much you spend, and what the categories are.  If Travel wins:  Go Venture.  If not: Go Quicksilver.

True, Venture has $59 AF.  That's to offset the 2pts/$1.  This is why categories are pertinent.  Include overseas where Discover Miles is negated.  Might find that Quicksilver and Discover Miles are your most lucrative combo.

Perhaps I have a personal issue with Venture One, but I can't stand the reward rate of return.  There are many options if a little homework is done.  Besides, you're getting reimbursed for this!  This could be a very favorable situation!

Wow that's great advice! Thanks

Any other cards that have no foreign transaction fees that you recommend?

Re: Venture One chances

I just applied for the Venture card, but I wasn't approved. I'm thinking I should call the backdoor number

Also, if apply for a QS do they pull my credit report again?

Re: Venture One chances

I called but they said they would have to submit my application again. So there's no number where an application specialist takes your phone call, asks some questions and reconsiders your information? I remember Barclay's first denied my application for an Apple Rewards card then I called and I was approved.

Re: Venture One chances

Sorry to hear about your initial denial.. I am honestly not sure how Cap1 reconsideration works or if they even aven one.  Hopefully someone else will pipe in here.  What were the reasons of the decline?

Re: Venture One chances

What attracks you to the arrival +?  Similiar to the Venture and sign-up bonus?
