Venture Recon?

Applied for the Venture was declined. Emailed EO for recon, got a call saying they are reviewing it. It's been about a week, and still no word. Is this a bad sign? Do you think I have a chance?

Scores 720 TU, EQ 728 and EX 690ish but should update to above 700 for EX. Util will be below 15% once payments post. No cards above 5k limit. AAoA is about 4 years.

Re: Venture Recon?

Capital One isn't known for recons. Your scores look good. I'm surprised of the denial.

Re: Venture Recon?

The reason for denial was because I don't have any cards at 5k limits. However I have 4 cap 1 cards, sitting at about 10k all together. Plus my Amex will be at 9k when I get the 3x CLI. Penfed should be getting a CLI soon to over 10k.

Re: Venture Recon?

Ah, didn't realize you already have 4 Capital One cards. What's holding your scores down? When was the last time you apped for a Capitol One card? Have you considered some other lenders? Amex is a good one that really grows without too many HPs.

Re: Venture Recon?

I last apped for capital one about a year to 2 years ago. I was approved for a Platinum MC. I have an Amex BC, Penfed, Chase FU, Discover It, and a few store cards

Re: Venture Recon?

Capital One has really tightened up on approvals it seems. Regardless, they are not known for recon results, and typically the EO backs the computer's decision.

Hope there's a positive outcome for you but to be honest I wouldn't expect much. Capital One just isn't a creditor you can recon with in most cases. What the computer spits out tends to be what they stick with.

Re: Venture Recon?

I figured as much. Maybe I am better off going for the Chase Amazon Card, another Penfed or the Amex Everyday Card. Anything you guys recommend if I don't have any luck?
