Walmart Confusion!

Hello! This is my first post here so go easy on me!

I've had a Walmart store card since '07. I read on these forums that you could apply for the card again in hopes of getting approved for the mastercard version. I applied online and was given a code and asked to call customer service. The call was straight forward and I just had to read back the infomation I put on the app. They said I was approved for a $600 credit limit. I asked the rep if this was a Mastercard, and she said no it was the store version and I would receive it in 7 bussiness days. I'm confused?! I thought Walmart wouldnt let you have two store cards. If I really am about to recieve ANOTHER store card I will cancel it fast. I just wanted to get everybodys input here about this, how could this happen? Is my understanding wrong? can you really have two store cards?

You can have 2 wal-Mart store cards. Approval on a second card isn't always a Mastercard. They tried to pair your first on the MC and couldnt so they offered you the store card.

thanks for the input! Thats so crazy to me that they would give you two of the same card. Why not just give my old one an increase! I'll be canceling that card! thanks again!

No problem. Seems kind of weird too but some other creditors do it too. If going to cancel the new one, call and ask for an increase on the old one

Last week i applied and was approved for the walmart mc. I have had the store card 2 yrs now.

I went instore and told the cashier that i wanted to apply for the mastercard, she did not know how to do this so she called a supervisor to help... i was immediately approved for $1,500 and went home saw online that my cl was actually $2,500 i called cs and ask for a $5,000 cl without hesitation was told yes.

I would not have accepted another store card myself, you should call credit solutions, explain that you want the mastercard, loyal customer etc.

Yeah she didn't really give me an option to turn it down haha. I asked if it was a MC and she said no it's a store card. I told her I didn't want two store cards etc etc and all she said was "is there anything else I can help you with?" Like a robot! How did you look at the CL online when you got home? I didn't get an acceptance email or anything

Do you know the number for credit solutions off hand? I tried searching for it online and on this forum, didn't turn up with much

Sorry you got hit with 2 store cards. When I applied I got the same message and was approved for 1700. I asked her if it was the mc and she said yes, so I was happy because I had a store card closed but still showing up on the landing page.
