@CollegeStudent2 I would provide additional DP's so the seasoned "Vets" can help you with this.

I'm not sure how NFCU is with forgiving after you defaulted on a checking account with them. I would possibly look into a secured card but without knowing your FICO scores, AAoA, INQ, and DTI it's difficult to help.

PLOC/Loans is a different lending team then CC lending. DP's will be different and possibly more difficult with the recent default on a checking account.

Do you suggest getting the checking back in good standing first ? Ive heard they are pretty forgiving. We will know this afternoon.

Yes, you'll need to make them whole before any future relationship would be possible. Best bet is just call them and level with them - tell them the situation, your desire to pay what you owe, and your hopes of getting back in and see what they say.

Re: Wanted more info on Navy Federal

I burned Navy on a auto loan at the end of 2018, I let it become a charge off. I made it right with them in December of 2019, I paid it in full and a few days later I was approved for a credit card, and just received another credit with them. As long as you pay in full I think you have a better chance of repairing the relationship.

The scores in my signature are the scores I had at that time. I was given a 15k SL. Orignal application was declined, but I sent a secured messaged for a recon and they approved me.
