Hello,
I recently applied for the Citi Custom Cash card, and my application went straight to the 7-10 day pending status.
I noticed that Citi didn't hard pull any of my credit reports. I was confused so I call their status line and spoke to an agent.
They said since I am 18 years old they need additional verification and they are sending a letter for more information.
Is this a positive indicator for approval? Or is this the common process for young applicants with Citi? Thanks for the help!

@Straed No, its not necessarily an indication that you will be approved.
What you've encountered is a restriction placed on lenders by federal law (Credit CARD Act of 2009). Title III of the law, captioned "Protection of Young Consumers" describes the steps lenders must follow when considering applications from anyone under the age of 21. You would typically have to get a cosigner or provide proof of income to the lender.
I never did this, but I might have just missed it (I was born in 1989 and got cards by 2009 and in the last few years)
@Straed When I applied a week ago my app went to 7-10 day pending. However an hour later I received an email of approval. Not sure in your case though...
