Weird amex decline?

I burned amex in BK for a small amount of $500 4 years ago. Now I know amex isn't BK friendly typically especially if you did burn them. I decided to give it a whirl and I was immediately declined. I figured as much and they didn't pull my credit either. The decline letter came in and stated " we cannot approve your application because we previously cancelled your account(s)" the verbiage is throwing me off but I'm assuming they just mean the card that I discharged in BK with them? And no HP means I'm blacklisted right?

Re: Weird amex decline?

Amex won't approve for 5 years after BK is filed either. Maybe if you PIF the old debt now they'll let you back in in a year when you're BK is 5 years old.

Chances are since you're approaching 5 years discharge if you find a way to pay that $500 balance off they'll let you back in.

Re: Weird amex decline?

Anyone know how I can do that? Just google amex collections or something?

Re: Weird amex decline?

1. get your full CR since the acocunt number of the old account is on there

2. backdoor # - Backdoor Numbers

3. gather everything and send a payment to them

Once it's done give it a couple of weeks and then apply if you're 5 years post discharge and your chances are considerably better than w/o paying it.
