Here's where I clicked to get the offer... after clicking, it took a few seconds for the screen to change (I assume a SP was taking place behind the scenes)...
Nope, no ad. I have the message part and the part below the ad. Nothing there. I'm going to call and fuss! ![]()

That's an excellent question; unfortunately I can't help too much since my account is fairly old (11 years).
FWIW, in all those years this is the first time I've ever been shown a pre-qual for anything. I've had CSRs offer to "take my application" many times, but never a pre-qual, until now.
I have a minor update... as mentioned before I was able to get the prescreen to give me an offer, but I had to proactively seek it out.
Just a few minutes ago, when I logged in to take a peek at my checking account, I got a 'splash' screen with the same offer. That in itself isn't a big deal for most folks, but considering I've been with Wells for 10+ years and they have never 'presented' anything to me before this is definitely new. The screen makes you click past it to get to your account information (choices are 'Remind Me Later', 'Apply', or 'No Thanks').
My scores have been stable at 712-718 the last few months (gaining a point or two each month) so that might have something to do with it, or perhaps they are merely increasing their marketing efforts for everyone.
The APR is the same on this offer as it was previously on the prescreen, so I'm definitely not interested. That being said, it's nice to know I'm at least on their radar, especially since they turned me down just a few years ago. My last baddie will age off in a couple of months, and I'm going to be watching to see if/how much the APR changes once that happens.
It's ironic how at one time I would have been overjoyed to get this offer, now I'm like 'meh'... LOL. ![]()
I'm seeing the 5% ad on the left side of my homepage. Hmm. Maybe it's a prequal for another card as well.. ?

Only one way to tell! ![]()
If there's a pause after you click it and it offers you a specific APR, that's said to be a good sign. ![]()
(Just clicking the ad doesn't cause an app... it just gives you additional information.)
