What Credit Cards Should I App For

Hello All,

I have read the forums many times, but this is my first time posting.

I want your help on what would be a good card to app for based on my credit profile...

I have no clue how to add my info to the signature like you all do but here it goes...

My FICO 8 with Experian is 741, FICO 9 with Transunion is 727 and I don't know my FICO score with Equifax. I know the Vantage score is 698.

All accounts paid on time, no baddies... I have one open auto lease and 1 open card with Avant that has a limit of $750.00. My balance on my card is currently $7.00. I am an authorized user on an Amex card with a $1,000.00 limit with a $512.00 balance. I also am an authorized user on a CapitalOne card with at $800.00 limit. That one has a $600.00 balance. But it only reports to Experian and Equifax for some reason.

I have about 4 inquires with Transunion from 2018 that will drop off soon and 16 or 17 with both Experian and Equifax. Most of those are about to drop off in the next two months, but there are about 5 or 6 from the last 60 days. All those apps were denials. BBVA, Chase, Citi, Synchrony and Discover. Any suggestions? My profile is about 5 years old, but I have inquiry anxiety and I want to make an education decision. I was thinking a bank that only pull transunion is my best bet.

BTW I'm in CA.

Thank!

Re: What Credit Cards Should I App For

first remove yourself from both AU accounts

both are high Util compared to limits, so they are hurting you, not helping you

** on your own profile, you have 1% Util

with the AU's added - you have 43% util

then wait until those Inq's drop off - and the recent ones age a bit - say July/Aug

then check prequal for a Cap1 or Discover

Your score is decent enough that should have got you in with most of those bank! Unless something else is going on like BK etc.

Having too many inq is also spooking many lenders too. Just wait six months to a year so they falloff or their effect gets reduce by age.

Any lenders you go with is going to give you their almost highest APR, so try to go with a bank that would reduce it in the future. For example Chase, Sync, Cap1, Comenity most likely not going to reduce your APR in the very long future. App for them once you are in great shape credit wise.

FNBO is a good bank that is very flexible that you haven't app yet.

Also not knowing more DP, but base on what you have disclosed so far you can remove the AU accounts.

No bankruptcies. Chase denied me because the high usage on my Amex AU card. They said that when I attempted to recon. Twice. Synchonry claimed they could not verify my identity. BBVA, Citi and Discover all denied for too many inquiries. I'm going to remove the AU accounts now. Any idea who FNBO pulls from? Thanks!

FNBO is a crap shoot on pulls.

I've had EQ pulled and EX pulled on two different apps.

One time they pulled EQ and the next time they pulled EX for me.

Re: What Credit Cards Should I App For

Have you checked pre-approvals with Amex? Not sure about the history on your AU account, but if your scores are that high, and you have a decent history through the AU account, you can probably prequal for your own Amex.
