What Next?

Transunion - 647

Experian - 626

Equifax - 606

I have -

Captial One Platnium Secured -$200

Capital One QuickSilver -$300

First Premier Bank -$300

Verve -$500

Credit Union MasterCard -$500

Barclay Apple Rewards -$1000

WalMart - $600

Amazon -$600

PierOne - $500

I have a $0 balance on all accounts

I did have past due student loans, but have paid them all off in full.

I am trying to find a decent card with a better credit limit than the "toy" cards that I could get approved for in the past, but am clearly still trying to build my scores at the same time.

Where would you go from here?

He's not going to get approved for the CSP with those scores.  They need to be at least 50-60 points higher to try.  AMEX Gold is iffy as well.  If I was the OP I would garden and work on upping his scores before applying for anything more right now.

+!.  He is better off waiting and getting the scores up before applying.

Re: What Next?

Garden for a year. 6 months minimum.  Do not let all accounts show zero balance. One account should report a small amount for optimum scores.

Re: What Next?

You need to get your scores north of 650 to get out of toy card he!!.  Amex gave me a charge card at 656 (Experian), but frankly you have much more than I ever did when my scores were similar to yours.  Your time will be better spent trying to goodwill any negatives off of your reports, otherwise you'd be flushing inquiries down the toilet.

I would use these cards very heavily, without regard to utilization percentages of CL, as long as it is 95% of the CL or less, for regular spending you do already: gas, groceries and cell phone, and pay frequently. Alternate them so you don't go over limit, pay frequently so you don't incur any interest cost. The objective with this is to show the CCC some luv and try to get a CLI so they move up a bit, and also to build your credit file with monthly usage. The utilization is going to be high, but you are going to see offsetting increases in your FICO score just by adding positive payment months to your CR.

I would close this card. From what I hear the fees are astronomical.

This constitutes gardening, and so 6-months or a year out you will have a higher score. Just never miss a payment and 6 to 12 months will improve your score, no current apping allowed.

Good luck!
