Hi everyone!
My GF has 2 cards: Amex Gold Delta skymiles CL $1000 (8 months old) and Discover it CL $1300. (10 months old) Scores are TU 738 EQ 734 (according to CK though) Utilization 0%, 0 inquires in past 6 months, 2 inquires in the past year. What would be the best card for her to apply for? As far as I know, BoA, Chase and Citi usually require AAoA of at least 1 year, is it correct?
Thanks ![]()
Hello, may I ask where does she spend mostly on? Food? Groceries? General purchases? Entertainment? Gas? Generally, banks wanted at least a year of credit history, better if AAoA is at least a year.
She actually doesn't spend much at all. Usually it's just a small transactions of 10-20$ for a food or uber ![]()
I'd say go for Barclays Uber Visa, but since she doesn't spend that much at all, just hold off to any CC applications. If that small transactions is everyday or weekly, go apply for it. Barclays doesn't like recent CC applications unless its at least 6 months old. It's 4% food, then 2% for Uber rides. US Bank Cash+ is good for Uber rides if you set ground transportation category for 5%.

If she has no specific need for credit, she should not apply just for sake of adding another card.
Did she apply for Delta because Amex offers it to everybody?
No, she didn't get any offer from Amex
So she just applied for BCE, got approved instantly for $6000
Now, is it a good idea to close her Delta miles and just add that limit of $1000 to her new BCE? I know it will lower her AAoA, but at least she won't pay that 95$ annual fee on Delta and also BCE seems to be much better since it has a cash rewards
If we close Delta will it still counts towards Chase's 5/24 rule or is it for opened accounts only?
Thak you everyone very much ![]()

Congrats on her approval! If she doesn't want to close the Delta card she could downgrade to the no-AF Blue card but that depends if she wants to deal with a card that wil be SD'd basically. Though if she decides to close the card afterall it will still report to her credit for up to 10 years so no immediate effect on AAoA. And for Chase's 5/24 rule it counts ALL cards opened in the last 24 months regardless if it was closed during that time it will still count.
Don't quite understand what SD'd card means
)
I didn't know that closed accounts report for 10 years, that's good info ![]()

SD = sock-drawered. Means the card will basically be left alone while keeping the account open.
