What card should I apply for?

I currently have 2 cards from Capital One with low credit. I applied for these when the score was in the upper 500's 2 months ago. I have improved my score to 678, 687, &690. I have asked capital one for a CLI but it is too early. What will be the best card for me I would perfer rewards. I have burnt Wells Fargo, Barclay, Chase, Bank of America 7 years ago. What card should I apply for with the best chances of getting approved?

Problem with AMEX is it is not accepted anywhere. The only thing negitive is BOA home loan 4 years ago 120+ days late and student loan 90 days over 1 year ago. I have a decient credit profile. Ave age of accounts 9 years oldest account (closed) 20 years, 8% utilization 4 HP (3 are from the same mortage company all within 1 1/2 months). According to MyFICO I am a 13% risk rate.

Maybe another Cap One card and hope that they give you a higher limit.  Do you belong to any local credit unions that you could try?

Where is Amex not accepted?!  I know some small businesses wont accept it because of the "higher merchant fees" but generally, I have never had an issue.

That being said, I woudnt chance it with Amex at this point, I would suggest Barclays.  Even if they have a problem with the lates on the student loans, you will have a chance to explain it to their friendly underwriters, which is a perk you wont get from many other companies.  You could also try the pre-qual for Chase as it is very accurate.

Thanks!  I shouldnt read or type before I have coffee...  Then I change my previous opinion, dont go with either barclays or chase, chances are you wont get very far.  Amex may approve you, but its going to be a craps shoot with the relatively recent late loans.  Wishing you the best though!
