Re: When to Apply for a 2nd Chase

Just as another data point, I was approved for Freedom in Dec, Slate about 28 days later (which I closed and rolled the limit into freedom), then I was approved for CSP in March.

I would wait another couple of months at least and lower your util on that Freedom card.

Re: When to Apply for a 2nd Chase

I'd wait a year if I were you because I'd like to see if they offer you an auto CLI.  I got an auto CLI from Chase after 3 months.  June is my one year anniversary but I'm not apping for anything from them until my 0%APR is up in september.  I like to keep one 0% APR card just in case I ever want to carry a balance.

Not to highjack your thread but I'd like to get the Chase Slate right after I sign my houseloan.  What kind of limits have people got on their slate?  What kind of limits did they have on other cards prior.  I'd like to put 10k in building materials on the card right away and pay it off at 700-1000 a month.  Since I can't find the house I want I'm going to buy something and remodel over a 3-5 month period.

Re: When to Apply for a 2nd Chase

Thank you all for the advice and information. Much appreciated! I think will wait for at least 6 months. By then my Venture will post to the CRAs and I should be able to pay down my balance on my Freedom. I'm thinking that will satisfy both a continous relationship with Chase and also prove I am able to manage a balance. Hopefully, that will increase my chances of receiving a decent SCL on a CSP. As I am still still on a quest for my first 5 digit credit line.

Got my CSP a month after opening my Freedom, which was my first card with Chase.   Didn't have a prequalified offer on their site either.

Anything can happen.

great info to know as usual from the pros at myfico. i was going to say when you got another pre qual. but as this member wrote. no one really knows until you do it.

But i will take credit curiosity's word for it and go with the 6 month rule. nothing could hurt to wait another month since you got it in december.

Re: When to Apply for a 2nd Chase

I can never seem to get a PreQuel from Chase. I cold app'd when I got my Freedom card. And I'm sure you can imagine the look on my face when I saw I was not only approved but saw my largest CL at that time.

I absolutely agree that the info here at MyFico is top notch. I wouldn't have been able to make the progress I have this past year without all the knowledge and support of this forum.

Well honestly i could never get a pre qual for chase either. but i told my self. i will not app until i do. as i don't want to waste hp. about 2 weeks ago i finally got pre qual online. for freedom and slate. but i also observed what had changed. finally my apps in the last 6 months had changed. it went down from 6 to 2 in the last 6 months. as my other accounts became older than 6 months old. so this year. since december. i only had 2 apps. that is the only difference i can see between pre approval from that time to now. scores not changed much. util is pretty much same. so how come i get one now and not before. that is really all i can see.
