When to reapply for CC after paying in full NFCU

Hi.

Yesterday I decided I wish to open a new card with NFCU and so I paid my balance in full rather than making small payments. It posted today and has a $0 balance.

My question is, how long should I wait to reapply? I talked to them and they said I should be able to reapply. My card was not charged off abd only had a few missed payments last year in college. I explained to them how I really want to build the relationship.

Ive been a member since 2015. I get my military pay direct deposited there. I have a savings abd I just opened an IRA earlier thus month with them.

Could I app again now? Should I wait till the pay off posts to my credit reports? Apply online or over phone to explain its paid off?

Thanks. (Posted via phone. Sorry if typos)

"Should I wait till the pay off posts to my credit reports?"

Yes.

This will improve your FICO score which will give you better odds of approval.

As soon as your credit reports show a $0 balance, you should be good to go

So...

I bit the bullet and went for it and the result:

"Your application has been accepted and is currently being reviewed.
The processing time for a credit card application is 24 hours unless additional information is needed."

And my scores are low 600s as I rebuild! I am very happy that Navy Fed let me get the same card I had pre-pay off! (cashRewards) Smiley Very Happy

I'm not all about bursting bubbles, but this is not an instant approval.  the 24 hours is for manual review - you're not out ot the woods yet, my friend.

If they don't approve it, see if they'll use the same HP for a secured credit card.  It will automatically unsecure after 1 year.
