If you are getting the Discover deposits then you got it. That's the stage I just finished. Waiting for them to pull the deposit and send the card. Don't lose hope the Cap1 platinum mc is where I started too. Hit the limit increase button monthly. Use the card and pay it in full before the bill generates. 1 lump payment not little ones. Then once the payment posts hit the increase request button.
Pretty estatic to get the Cap One. Yeah Sub-Prime 23.99 but no AF and better than I thought. One of my inquiries is from 2/15 CO. At that time it said secured offer for $250 deposit - I passed. But I also had 7 CA's reporting back then. So pretty happy. Discover It said 1-2 days processing for debit deposit. Crossing fingers, hoping but not expecting.
Just happy to start somewhere with no credit. Wasn't happy at first with the responses for cap one. But Good suggestions! Worked
Congrats and good luck on your credit journey ![]()
Congrats!! You are already well on your way. Let the new accounts age 6 months and your scores will certainly climb. Don't be in a rush.
So cards in the mail. Making progress. Capital One Platinum Mastercard 300 cl. The Discover ended up being a Discover It Secured Chrome after I called, 200 cl. Thought Chrome was a student card. Should 2 be enough for now? Thought 3 was the magic number. Also got a second Bank Account at BofA for a future card. That was my chex test. Happy for now

It is 2-3 cards, so 2 is plenty to start with, give it at least 6 months and you should qualify for higher limits. When I started after not having a CC for over 10 years, I got one secured card ($200 CL) waited 6 months and then was approved for Discover ($4000SL), US Bank ($3000 SL) and Chase (4500 SL).
