Re: Which Card to Apply for?

I'll try and include as much information as possible. Simply looking for advice from you fine folks on which card I should apply for next, if any, based on my current credit profile.

Income: $85,000.

Inquiries (Don't ask...): Exp - 60, TU - 40, EQ - 40.

Scores: Exp - 666, TU - 690, Equifax - 685.

4 Open Credit Cards
US Bank Cash+ - $1,000 - Opened 09/18
Target Red Card - $200 - Opened 09/18

Discover It Cash Back - $500 - Opened 10/18

Capital One QuickSilver (Previously Platinum - Originally Secured. Product Change was Available) - $600 - Opened 8/17.

UTILIZATION IS 11%

After the 13th, when Cap1 reports, 5%

1 Closed Credit Card - by Request

Credit One Platinum - $300

One Collection on Transunion and Equifax for $744 - Apartment Complex back in 2014.

Two Collections on Experian - Apartment Complex for $744 and $350 Medical Bill.

2 Paid Auto Loans with good payment history: $17,000 loan and a $30,000 loan.

2 Open Auto Loans (both opened in Oct/2018) one with a $23,000 balance the other with an $8,000.

Rehabilated Student Loans as of 05/18 with good payment history.

Discover and Capital One refuse to increase my credit line. I was approved for a Cap One QS card with a small $300 limit a few days ago which is kind of a smack to the face after being with them for almost 2 years.

I don't think you should apply for any card at this time. I think you should wait.

Thanks for the response, Xaximus.

I've accepted I'm just going to let the apartment collection fall off - at this point it only has 2 years and 7 months to go and they'll only remove it from my report if I pay the full $744 balance.

For my Discover It card I'm assuming I was placed in some downsell program because I was only approved for a $500 limit and was not approved for the promotional no interest offer on BTs and purchases - everytime I try and hit that luv button they decline my request. I utilize my card pretty heavily and pay in full each month.

I've kind of recognized at this point U.S. Bank is going to be my main focus - I have my checking account and auto loan with them already and worked for them for 1.5 years so I'm sure they like me.

CAP1 also just upgraded me to the Quicksilver with no AF from the Platinum so hopefully that's a big turn around for me. Before I posted here I applied to AMEX, Citi, BoA and they all pulled Experian - my lowest score and got a big fat denial.

The baddies effect is playing out here. Lenders see the negatives and are afraid of lending more credit because of the prior negatives. So, there's 2 ways here, garden and let the baddies fall off, or clear them off. For the time being, since paying them off isn't an option, I would continue using both US Bank and Discover and hopefully they give CLIs based on your history with them and not factor in the baddies as much.
