Re: Which one do I app for??

Apped for Chase Frredom just now and approved for 6k limit at 23.24%

Marriott card just gave me a message saying they received my application, no immediate response.

Trying to figure out which NFCU card now.

Re: Which one do I app for??

OK, good news/bad news. Applied for NFCU Platinum card and was approved for 25k CL with 9.24% which I can do a product change on if I want to switch to cash rewards or flagship (the other two I was interested in).

Bad news is that my pre-qual on Cap One went from fixed APR amounts with both Ventures and Quicksilver to now a range of APR saying they couldn't match my records to a card offer. Not terribly worried because I know that can change.... Strange though because I checked it yesterday and they were all fixed.

Re: Which one do I app for??

Good job !!!! So are you going to wait until prequalifier come back up ? Maybe in a few days it'll be back up. If your not too concerned about Apr, you can just cold app as you already know your good on approval. But as always, do what you feel is comfortable to to you. Nothing wrong with waiting for a week to go by. Your choice Smiley Happy

Re: Which one do I app for??

Strangely, I tried the pre qual at Cap One again and I got the fixed APR's. Apped for Venture first and got this:

Thank you for submitting an application for a Capital One credit card.

We attempt to provide an application decision in 60 seconds or less. On occasion, system availability affects our ability to make a credit decision or, in some cases, we need to collect additional information. Unfortunately, we need more time to look into this for you.

Keep an eye out for additional details regarding your application via email or mail within 7-10 business days.

Until we contact you, please do not submit another application.

Then hit app for QS and got this:

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Capital One customer.

Unfortunately, we weren't able to approve you for this card. Recognizing this isn't the answer you were hoping for, we want to help you understand why and have explained the reason for the decision in a secure letter. You will receive the secure letter via email within a few days. If we are not able to reach you by email, you will receive the letter in the mail within 7-10 business days.

Not sure what to do now??? Probably should not have hit second app.Smiley Sad

Your first app could very well be a verification issue. I'm sorry to hear about your second app. Usually their prequals are pretty solid. Smiley Sad

You had mentioned that your prequals had changed from one day to the next then back again. What's weird is I had app'd for the Freedom, CSP and Amex ED on the 15th. I only got hit for 1 HP for both Chase cards thankfully, and then another for the ED. So 2 Hps on EX. Anyway I'm rambling... that day I was pre-qualified for the Venture/QS on Cap1s site. I had waited to apply for those... The following day the 16th my prequals changed to the QS1/Platinum and have stayed the same since. Immediately I thought oh no they saw the 2 HP's. I just find it odd. Considering from what I've read they do have pretty solid prequals. From what another user told me it's from the CRA's and they don't SP when you actually use the tool. Either way unfortunately it's not an 100% approval.

Again sorry to hear the denial on your 2nd app.

Still waiting on my CSP app answer too btw.

Re: Which one do I app for??

OP, I have reviewed the thread.  If you are travelling this year, the CSP would have been a very good choice although it has an annual fee.  Alot of people don't see that they are pre-approved on the Chase site and still gets approved when they apply. Congrats on the Freedom card and the NFCU.

Personally, I'd have applied to Capital One card last as they pull all three reports.  Now the you have been approved for the Freedom and NFCU, how many inquries do you have and how many more cards do you need?

Re: Which one do I app for??

Thanks YIM, I apped for Cap One last as advised by Score or Be Scored. As of right now the only alert received was from EQ for Cap One pull, I know they pull all three so just a matter of time I guess. I would assume Chase pulled EXP only and NFCU pulled EQ twice, but will be voiding one if I decide to not move forward with second app for Cash Rewards card. With Chase, I wanted CSP but didn't think I would get it. Maybe I can have them transfer Freedom to CSP? Only info on Marriott is that it's processing, nothing on call line except for Freedom Approval. Just don't want to crush my score with HP's, all of this is in anticipation of mortgage in 1 year. I really would like Marriott and don't need any more cards. Just trying to get the best bang for my HP's.

Total current inquiries not including above are: EQ - 0 TU-1 (nfcu original opening of account) EXP - 2 (Both of which are from Dec. 2014)

Chase is not very consistent with the 2 cards in a month rule.  Some people have been denied whilst others have been approved.  If the CSP is what you really want, you have to wait unfortunately for 30 days after the Freedom card.

The Marriot can swing either way but the good thing is you have 30 days to recon from date of denial. Don't apply for anything else until you get the CSP.  For Capital One, since you have taken the hardpull, you might as well wait and if denied, you can reach out to their EO to see if the decision can be overturn.
