So as some of you who follow my crazy antics already know i been gardening since Chase CSP approval early last month.
And then another wave of credit card mania falls from the sky yet once again, this time in the form of Capital One's Venture card high limit approvals mania ![]()
As i been holding out for Barclays Sallie Mae (trying since March 2014 for this card), i needed to get THIS app out the way FIRST! before going for Venture.
So i pulled the trigger this morning for it and dammit, wouldn't you know it, the routine 7-10 day BS crap so i called into Recom that same hour.
Much to my utter surprise though the Recon guy said they did just receive the new app but did not pull a HP for it. They were going off the denial report from October. He asked me that if i wanted them to, they could certainly do a new report and proceed with reconsideration. I POLITELY DECLINED!
During our discussion he brought up the previous reasons of too many new accounts and i told him if you guys would have just approved the Sallie Mae in the first place i wouldn't still be trying for that ONE card now for nearly a year. I already have the Barclays Rewards that was an Instant 5K approval last July. Other issuers send preapprovals without all the stupid recon hassle. And not only that, i have another bonified preapproval sitting on the table from Chase.
I didn't want to make his day bad with negativity so i didn't break it to him that there are already other lenders who are so much more than ready and willing to do New Business with me.
So i dodged a HP on what certaintly seems like would have just been another Barclays Sallie Mae DENIAL again for the 3rd time PLUS i was able to re-gather my senses just in time to cancel the Capital One Venture application at the very last second too.
In conclusion, another successful escape from ANY more HP's in the face of some Very Strong temptation this time Whew!
Since Barclays has been so mean, it's time for you to run to the loving arms of Cap One for an approval hug.

Question for the experts here:
Is a no HP app still considered a Garden reset? ![]()

Knowing this guy's luck he'd end up getting a $600 Venture.

It's a bonified trait! I never asked for it but it's somehow magically always just that way.
Another example, Early AM this past Monday i was out of town again, gas prices all over the place at $1.77 and i had business there all morning. When i was ready to leave that afternoon all of the sudden the price for gas had jumped up to $2.10 a gallon in a matter of those few short hours. Before getting on the Interstate i remembered seeing one station some miles back still at $1.77. I doubled back and just as i was pulling into the station a guy was about to tape off that pump!! I raced up to it and ask if i could go ahead and fill up before he closed it down and he said sure Whew!! Got in just under the wire. Hate paying insane artifically bloated prices when we don't have to.
Moral of the story is no matter what i do, it always seems it takes a Herculean effort and wind up just getting thru at the last moments.
Ever see the show Ice Road Truckers? And the opening song "Living On The Edge"? That's CreditMagic's Life ![]()
