we are having the same issue with barclay card...applied about 2 months ago, and got the verification hell...
they've sent us the same usps mail 3 times total, asking for DL, SS card, and an "original copy" of utility bill...
I haven't had an oringinal utility / cable bill since god knows when...so I just printed the online version each times....last time, we even included one of our tax mortgage statement...whch wsa the original doc...
Today, we just got yet another verificaiton letter in the mail, asking for the same thing..
I am unsure what to do at this time...
its ironic they send you the verification letter to the address they want you to verfy with them but according to the barclay apologist on here this is all just perfectly normal.
FYI my wife and I applied independently about a week ago and BOTH got the same security review. We each mailed (priority) independently the next day and both got calls of approval today (4K each). BTW- we both send copies of an electronic utility bill and that worked fine.
Despite what another poster has said, I understand why you are upset OP. Honestly, I don't think Barclay is worth the hoops they make you jump through. They are in the top three most hated lenders on here for valid reasons. I would jump through those hoops for Chase or AMEX but never Barclay but that's just me.
Good luck to you!! I hope everything works out ![]()

Because they are Barclays. No other reason. Are they that bad? I have not had any issues with over the past 2 years I have had a card with them. They have even given me a CLI without me asking.
Yes they are that bad.
I never had any issues with them either, until one day they closed all my accounts without notice and without a reason.

Yeah I got the verification letter when I applied for my Apple Rewards card. It's not that big a deal. Just make the copies, mail them in, and get an approval.
I work in IT for a credit card processor. I don't mind at all that the bank is being cautious about my identity.
