Hey All!
I tried to search this (but wasn't quite sure how to word it in the search bar).
I'm at $34k on my BCP and I'm thinking of getting the Gold.
The rub?
Amex won't extend me anymore credit on my BCP unless I send in my last 3 bank statements etc.
If I apply for the Gold, will they extend more credit through that account? Will they allocate from my BCP? Will they deny?
Sorry for the questions, I'm just not sure Amex's policy on this. If my BCP is at its 'cap', does that mean I'm at my 'cap' for Amex?
Thanks!

If Amex sees fit to give you 34k on your BCP, you'll get approved for any charge cards you want.
Your BCP actually does not seem to be at it's "cap," it is just that AMEX typically requires income verification to extend you a CL about $35,000 on one card. If your income supports it, they will dish out a higher limit. The Gold card does not have a revolving limit, so there is nothing to take to allocate from your BCP to accommodate the Gold. The Gold is a charge card, therefore charges are approved as an ongoing spend and payment analysis is computed on the back end by AMEX. It does not have a set credit limit. Long story short, if you want solid approval or denial odds do as follows: Log in to your AMEX account online, click on menu --> cards --> view all credit cards, scroll to the Gold card and click apply now. It will give you one of two messages. If the message says "Applying to expand your membership with us is easy, Cashbackjunky." then it is leaning more toward a denial. If it says "Cashbackjunky, you are preapproved!" well, I think you know what that means. Good luck and let us know how it pans out!

The BCP probably is not at a "cap" at all; Amex often seeks income verification info when someone applies for an increase to 35k or greater.
I do not think you would be met with the same request if you just app for the Gold card.
I was not asked to verify income till $55,000.00 on Delta Reserve. I gave them three statements, they gave me $10,000.00 increase.
Seems to me that getting the Gold AMEX would be easy....considering your existing BCP and if you've been with them a while, you'll like get it without a HP. AMEX does not necessarily give out hefty POT (Pay Over Time) limits upfront...it's a build it up sort of thing. You'll likely get the card, perhaps a small POT limit and with good use, that POT will grow without bank requests...
Good luck!
As mentioned above, just go click apply. If it says preapproved then you *should* be approved. If it says expanding your membership is easy or basically anything else then acceptance is not as likely.

Was right around the same for me. I never got asked until I requested something pretty extreme like a $63k 3X increase on my SPG.
With a healthy revolving limit like that already for a card in good standing, a denial for any of their charge cards would be extremely unlikely.
Hey All,
Decided to send in my income verification to Amex last night, to try to push that CL even higher.
When I submitted all of the docs, I was expecting to be kicked to a page that said "you'll hear from us...." But got kicked to this page instead:
🤔
I've checked my email and my Amex account (CL is still at $34k).
How long do these verifications/decisions usually take? And will I find out via email or snail mail?
Sorry if this is a silly question. I really was expecting to see a "we'll contact you in 2-3 days" (or something like that) response.
Thanks!

If you just submitted the necessary documents through the upload portal they emailed you, it will take them a few days to review and then email you accordingly. They "say" they need a week but something tells me it should be a few days.
