my cap1 QS has had a $300 limit opened for 7 months. cli denial reason states too many recent inquiries and they are pulling equifax. the fico score is high, only 2 inquiries from February 2022. is 2 seriously too many for cap one?
Sorry for your denial, please give more info such as your Fico scores and other credit cards and limits so we can give you better info also don't feel bad Citi gave me low credit limit when I applied for the Custom cash card today.
In my opinion, "inquiries" was just the generic reason the system spit out. It sounds like you may have a classic Cap1 bucketed card. Those low-limit cards tend to stay low. Only in rare instances have I heard of people growing one that started out at such a bottom limit.
i think the 2 inq's is just a generic reason they throw out there. my quicksilver world elite has been stuck at $400 for 1 year now. ive asked for a CLI every month and been turned down for generic reasons. too many inq's, account opened too recent, and we are currently reviewing all credit lines. but they been doing that for a year now. probably a safe bet to say you are in a bucket and that card likely wont grow much, if at all. im gonna try month 13 to see if i can get a CLI before i close it and just forget cap1 and put more spend on my higher limit cards like penfed, truist & fnbo fordpass visa.
way i see it now, cap1 has served its purpose and got me above water in the 700 range. if i get a prequal for venture or a higher tier card, ill take it. anything else im gonna shred it like @FireMedic1 advised in another post.
imo, cap1 is on crack. for fun i tried the qualify tool. it only provides me with secured credit card offers even though i have their products and decent scores with total utilization of 2%. their logic makes no sense to me.

I'm sorry @firefox100 you can't compare a 6k Citi Custom Cash approval to a Cap One card that is most likely bucketed at $300 not getting a cli Not even close. Most people with Cap One struggle to get a cli and for many at most a $100 is considered a win.
OP, lenders will often site reasons that boggle our mind but being your card is so young and more likely bucketed I would not read too much into this denial reason. Just keep using the card if you want any kind of I increase but I would temper your expectations.

I'd agree.
I burned them in my Ch13 for a small amount but I remember quite well the issues I had prior to filing in getting CLIs. It was a nightmare.
Thankfully I don't need their cards to rebuild. I have established a solid profile that doesn't include any CCs from Cap One. I do however have a car loan from them so down the road in the next year or so after the baddies fall off I may apply for one of their premium cards... but I definitely don't have any use for their rebuilding services.
