chase verification dept

On applying for Chase IHG, went to 7-10 message...called recon, initally rep says, denied because of negatives from 2010...explained those, she says, ok then, i will reconsider, put me on hold, came back with OK..now you just need to call our varificaton Dept. Monday....anyone ever went thru this? I have Freedom card with perfect history. She said this may be a verification fraud check,  to be sure its me that is applying. Amex has done this and approved me...

Yep I've had to talk to verification twice.

So wanderingbuilder, what was it all about? Did you get approved? They need to verify identity?

They usually verify that it was actually you who applied, and verify address, DOB, etc.

Generally if you hit them, you will be approved but my Ink+ app was denied because they took so long processing it that 5/24 came into effect during the course of processing.
