citi AA app reviewing code sent with mail?

Hi,

It's the 3rd time I've applied for the Citi AA Platinum card. The first time was like 3 mos ago when I forgot to unlock my EX report so I was denied (obviously). The second time was just a couple weeks ago, I was denied again by system right after submitting the app, without any HP. I called the rep and was told my credit history is too new but actually mine just reached 1yr by that time and they didn't even bother pulling my report.

Last week I apped again with exactly the same inv code I used for last two times, and this time I was NOT immediately denied. I got an email with my application ID. So I've been checking the status everyday but it always says "we are still reviewing your application". So I called today, the rep told me that they sent a mail w/ a code to me and I'll need to call them back with that code. It seems like they are verifying my address.

So my question is, what is the odd that my application be approve by reaching this step? I have 8 hp on EX for the last 2yrs, 3 hp last 6mos including the one from this app (2 only if this app is excluded ),  and the most recent hp other than this app was just 1mo prior to it, that hp was from BofA when I was applying for the Premium Rewards card (denied) and Travel Rewards Visa Signature (approved).

Normally lenders don’t waste time and resources doing verification just to deny you. It’s nornally a good sign

Thank you for the assurance Smiley Happy this really made my day especially after all those denials

Not to dash your hopes, but Citi can have mixed results on some of these verification instances.

Sounds like this could fall under tier 2 verification, but may still need to be reviewed by the lending department once the verification is complete. Hopefully, it will yield a favorable outcome.
