Re: citi best buy. hard pull cli?

Used to be soft pull for CLI before it switched to Citi. Now it's a HP on EQ atleast in my area. I got a increase from $7,500 to $10,000 2 weeks ago.

Re: citi best buy. hard pull cli?

MY BBYMC was stuck at $750 for years, I was about to close it. I tried one last CLI and they bumped me to 11k.

From what I have read this is not the norm, but now it will stay around with me for a while.

Re: citi best buy. hard pull cli?

For some reason I thought citi was a SP on a CLI request. Is it a HP for all citi cards or only best buy?

What about their non-store cards? For example the Hilton reserve is that a HP too?

I cant say from my own personal experience because I just got my first citi non store card, but I have read that they can be good for soft cli's every six months.

Out of all Citi CCs Best Buy has been the worst, my dad has had the card since 2008 and they havent ganted him a CLI its taken 3 HPS and nothing, so its getting closed out next month once remaining balance is paid off.

Yeah. But citi did not take over until September 2013. So how could they be the issue since 2008. It amazing. So it's their issue no cli in 5 previous years. Yes it's best to close. Really if it's that old gold card MasterCard with the 59 AF. It would never grow. I'm sure after you closed and got a new one. It would be 10 tines the amount.

Re: citi best buy. hard pull cli?

Best Buy MC was my first unsecured CC after BK7, from HSBC in 10/11, but with a paltry $500 CL & $60AF. When Cap One took it over they raised the CL to $1k over the phone, no CLI under Citi. In October I called and asked if they could waive the $59AF due in Nov.; rep said "No, the MC always has an AF", and said if I wanted to avoid the AF I should apply for the store card. I was leery of applying for credit with Citi, as they were my 2nd biggest creditor in my BK7. .I average around $100 in annual RZ certificates so that more than covers the AF, but with only $1k CL I often had to pay it down before the statement so it doesn't report more than 10% util.  So I decided to request a CLI to $2k, and if they denied it I was going to consider closing it. Requested the CLI through the account website and got an email w/approval in less than an hour. And yes, it was a hard pull.

I like the card. I spend $3500+/yr. so that I have Elite Plus status - free express shipping w/no $$$ order limit, plus bonus points on BB purchases. I used to pay Amazon Prime for that. Recent BB purchases were 2 LED bulbs for $5 after RZ certs, and a Smart power strip that has a "control" socket for things like a TV that when you turn if off the strip turns off the power for 4 sockets, shutting off the standby power that the receiver and Blu-ray/DVD players consume, got for only $15 after RZ certs.
