ok, so I had a funny conversation with a branch manager of Amegy bank about why I was denied for their credit card yesterday... "John, do you understand HOW MANY cards you were already approved for since January?" Sure and I can explain each one... just give me another one...
so my list is:
BoA Cash Back
BoA Astros
BoA Premium Rewards
Amex BCP
Chase Disney
Chase Freedom
Chase Hyatt
Cap 1 Savor
Discover IT
9 cards in 6 months... AND I'm preapproved for Wells Fargo CashWise... I'll decide how bad I want #10 and another $200 from them in a couple of weeks.
what's the max # of cards others here have been approved for in a 6 month time frame?
I understand your success and your pride in obtaining so many cards in such a short period, but I can't help but think you are tilting at windmills continuing on this path. Inquiries, AAoA and what some lenders view as "desperation" don't help when you dilute your scores - for what? You obviously have met your credit needs so bask in the glory but look forward to car loans or a mortgage in the future.
Just saying....
you are correct... my aaoa is crap... but credit cards are just a game/hobby for me... I paid off my mortgage in 2011 and just paid off my truck with a credit card... I'm used to living debt free and I live off half my income... my score took a hit from all these new cards... from 804 to 721... no big deal... as I said, this is just a game.
Conngrats on very nice spree approvals

^This guy credits
Seriously though, its refreshing to be in a place were you control and manipulate credit and it not being the other way around.
I did the Dave Ramsey plan with debit cards for over 15 years most of that debt free while putting hundreds of $k in spending on debit cards and then realized how stupid that was since I got 0 rewards for debtit cards... to me the Visa or MC logo on debit or credit card is the exact same thing... if I swipe on monday and can't pay in full by Friday, I don't need it or can't afford it.

Congrats I think the main reason why your score went down is you paid off your installment loans (house and auto) if you don't have a open installment loan. I had 5 closed installment loans but i didn't have a open one and after i open a installment loan 6 months later my scores went up 35 points
I had to actually pull out the spreadsheet for this one. I'll call this my "worst" 6 month period:
11/2016 Synchrony Lowe's
11/2016 BoA BankAmericard
11/2016 Citi Diamond Preferred
01/2017 Chase Sapphire Preferred
03/2017 Amex SPG
03/2017 PenFed PCR
03/2017 Chase Slate
04/2017 NFCU Flagship Rewards
Those last 4 were in a 2 week period and 3 of them had big SUB spend requirements. What's more amazing compared to all of the new cards the past couple of years is that I actually went 35 months from January '07 to December '09 without opening any cards, and 25 months from May '12 to June '14. Prior to that there are numerous times where I went about a year between apps.
I probably won a booby prize. 12 accounts and over $100K in tradelines since 12/28/17 and I still have fairly robust credit scores.
