No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
This is the advice I keep seeing-don't apply for new credit until you need it. Then why do you get "dinged" for putting in apps when you need it? Not all are approved and few may give you a limit you need or offers you are after. Multiple inquiries get reported, making it harder to get any apps approved. How do you get apps through this system when most of the denials say too many inquiries?
To avoid being dinged for apps (unapproved) try searching for cards related to where your current scores are. Such as, I have a 724 EQ, I wouldn't dare app for a Citi Double Cash card which is meant for excellent credit, but I would be more inclined to app for a Discover It card where approval chances would be greater than a denial (double cash)

Wait wait.....what? You have a 724 EQ (EX is also important with Citi), and are afraid of getting denied for DoubleCash?
He might want a better apr than the standard 22.99 offered even over 730.

I've already been denied for Simplicity once, pretty sure DC isn't happening anytime soon either. Where I live Citi pulls EX for apps NOT EQ or at least not a whole lot.

II tried searching for cards based on what I thought my current scores were, TU 730 & EX 724, I think EQ was closer 700, I don't remember, but I applied for cards that pulld EX & TU I thought. I also requested some CLIs, but what happened a lot is a different score was used, frequently from the previous month, which was lower. But I did get the Citi Double Cash, but I have a good relationship with Citi already.
