overstock pre?

I am working on rebuilding my credit. I do have two mortages and two vechile loans (car and motorcycle) and a student loan. So I am not void of credit. I also have some messes I am cleaning up including charge offs, collection accounts, and late payments. We hit hard times and were not managing our money well. But I think I have finally fixed that with YNAB which is helping me budget based on the money we have in hand vs wil be recieving. Anyhow I applied and got approved for two capitol one cards in January. One secured (but really partly) and one a quicksilver one with $300 limit. My scores are around 580 across the board. I was surprised to get a email offer from overstock for a overstock card. It is a preapp. My big question is there a benefit to opening that account? I am working towards a refi (FHA) this spring/summer so I ideally need to get up over 620. I will not be carrying a balance on anything. When I used my quicksilver I actyually pay the balance as soon as the items posts online so it is acting like a debit card for me (thanks YNAB). Any thoughts would be helpful. I know I am still in toy status but working to fix that.

IMO, I believe you should go with Overstock.  It give you a better mix which is something that effects your score, so having the store card is good and Overstock is a GREAT card as far as growing with you.  I would first try the Shopping Cart Trick to see if you get the Popup so to avoid a Hard Pull.  Once you get it, right away set up your account and hit the "LUV" button and you are very likely to get an increase at that point.  Good Luck!

Re: overstock pre?

They sent me preapproval that has a code and I can see based on full report they did a soft pull before they sent the preaaproval. Will they do a hard pull if they did a sift pull with a preapproval?

I would think that yes, they will do the HP in that scenario.  Just like most pre-approval site once you go onto and apply they will generate a HP, with the exception of the Shopping Cart Trick for Comenity cards.
