should i wait or?

Hi guys!

I'm new here! It's great to find a place like this to find answers about cc!

I'm an international and I just got my ssn.

I applied for Discover It and got instant approval for $750.

I haven't recieved my card yet, but i'm considering applying for other cards.

My ultimate goal would be Chase ritz in one or two years.

I do have about 35K in Chase debit and i think it will be wise for me to have a Chase card for a while.

Should I:

1.get a special consideration from banker and apply for Freedom? wait for a few months before applying for a marriott premier.

2.get a special consideration from banker and apply for Marriott Premier?

Is there even possibility for me to get approved for the Marriott cc?

Thank you all for your suggestions!

Hi!

Thank you so much for replying!

I checked credit karma and it says not avaliable.

Probably because I just issued my ssn and I have no credit history!

Re: should i wait or?

Since you have no credit history, I recommend waiting for at least 6 months (1 year at best) before applying for another credit card.

You need to show lenders that you have the ability to pay on time and handle your limit -- pretty much showing you have enough experience with CCs.

As you can see in my sig, I got three cards right when I turned 18. But this was only because I had two years of credit history as a AU.

But then again, I'll let other people comment to check out their opinions.

I think you may have posted the same post/ subject elsewhere earlier today? It can get confusing for people to see posts on the same topic or the same questions in multiple places.

Re: should i wait or?

Someone else posted today saying they were international and had received a Discover card with a $750 limit, and were looking for other cards to apply for - interesting coincidence, that! Smiley Happy

Re: should i wait or?

Congrats on the discover approval! I would let that account build up and build a good history for you before applying for other higher tier cards. You may want to consider looking at Capital One Platnium/QuciksilverOne/Journey.

Best of luck!

Re: should i wait or?

thank you for your reply!

So I assume that holding one card would be enough for now?

Will holding two cards simultaneously better for credit building? Smiley Happy

Re: should i wait or?

Yeah there is another person who has a Discover w/higher limit says he's a master's student, he/she is looking to add another card, perhaps that's causing the confusion with some and your question.

Either way you have no credit score. Chase may or may not BUT you might want to look into secured cards, maybe 2 since you have the funds to move cash to it. Usually 3 cc is best to help you build. I can't see anyone else unless you're a student, but even then that's a YMMV type of situation. Look at Capital One, Wells Fargo secured card and perhaps Bank of America. I would stay away from places like Credit One or First Premier. You have Discover, which is good. Good luck!
