Have you looked into the rewards structure of the Rewards card? Why do you want it? Is it to get in with Barclays because everyone purportedly raves about them?
What are your TU inquiries within the last six months? Util? AAoA?
I personally wanted to get in with Barclays because I was told their limits grow well, but more importantly, they send BT checks regularly. I used the Rewards card as my way in and will use it for 2x on utilities going forward. I wanted the Sallie Mae for 5% on groceries and Amazon. So for me, Barclays covers my utilities, groceries, and Amazon(where most of my spending goes at the highest rates offered for each).
I'm very happy with Barclays in general, and very happy with the Rewards MC specifically. For a 'non-prime' CC it's actually a very decent rewards card, 1% for every purchase, 2% on gas, groceries & utiltities. Actually, you can fudge that 2% a bit - for some reason it gives me 2% for purchases at a Family Dollar store which is coded as 'Variety store', dunno why, don't ask, don't tell.(I live in a rural area and Family Dollar is the Walmart of small towns) So this month I charged $274 on the card and will get just under 550 reward points. You must have 1000 points to issue cash back statement credit, I had around 500 from last month, so after statement cuts I'll take a $10 statement credit.
Barclays is very good at auto CLIs with steady, regular usage of the card, I got in 4/2012.with around $1200 CL, a little over 2 years later I was up to $5700 CLI, all auto CLIs, never hit the luv button. Barclays is aslo good for 0% BTs, did one the rewards card, and in March I apped & was approved for Barclays NFL card w/$5k SL, promptly did a $4k BT to pay off a Prosper loan, 0% for 15 mos, 3% BT fee was offset by $100 statement credit for charging $500 within 3 months. As I said, I'm very happy with Barclays.

so i have 1 TU inquiry, AAoA is just over 3 years, oldest account is 6 years, utilization is 0-3% (depending what's reported when)
i have no interest in BT as i carry no balances
idk why i want the card that's why i asked why people rave about it so much lol
2% gas and groceries and utilities is almost pointless because the freedom gets 5% on gas next quarter and i am PCing my ED card to a BCP or BCE in august which gets 3% or 2% back on gas
i am asking to see if it's worth it. i had never even HEARD of barclay until a month or so ago. i know what their cards are like but idk why people love them. i mean i am down for getting a card people love... but i just wanna know why lol
The Sallie Mae will give you 5%(non category) up to 250/month so it tops the BCE. Depending on your spending, you can have both.
Do you need a low APR card? The Barclay Ring is 8%

Maybe Sallie Mae might be a better Barclays crad for you - 5% rewards on gas & groceries, up to $250 combined purchases per mo, and up to $700/mo on "books", if you're an Amazon shopper any Amazon purchase is counted as "books".
