I wanted a second Discover It card to take advantage of "Double Cashback" and also to refinance some debt at 0% interest for 15 months. My first Discover It had a SL of $7K, and that card currently has a CL of $9.5K at 19.99% APR.
I was approved for a new card this Sunday with a SL of $5K at 27.99% APR, after the 0% intro period. I used Discover's pre-approval page before applying.
Experian was pulled, which is by far my worst report. This was a surprise since I had Equifax pulled last time in May 2022. I've lived in California this whole time (I don't know if Discover does or has pulled different reports based on geography). I'm not sure I would have applied if I had known Experian would be pulled, but it is what it is. (I've been applying for a lot of cards this year, and the $5K SL reflects that somewhat. It's on the median-to-low end of my recent approvals, and lower than my previous Discover SL).
Experian showed a FICO 8 of 689, 24% utilization and 23 accounts (including 17 open credit cards and 1 closed one, 1 open auto loan and 4 closed loans). Chase 5/24 status was 12/24. 16 inquiries (including 2 duplicates from car shopping). I had no drop in my FICO 8 after applying for Discover - I guess I'm now at a point where an inquiry makes little or no impact.
After the new card arrives and I complete my PenFed FCU Pathfinder SUB, I plan on taking advantage of the Discover Double Cashback! I'm off to the garden, although my gardening supplies might be bought with the Pathfinder for the next week or two. 😉
Nice SL, congratulations on your approval!
Congrats on the approval!
Congrats!

I believe you can still combine the two limits to one in the future 👍
I believe you're right. I did talk with someone about that yesterday and they said that they thought that the weren't doing that anymore. I wasn't that interested in actually combining them yesterday, so I checked online.
Apparently they don't let you do it until three months after the new card is established. At some point I'm going to want to transfer most or all of the credit limit on the new card to the old one. if they stop allowing that between now and then, I really can't do anything about it so I'm not going to worry about it.
Congrats on getting Discover #2!!!
Congrats on your Discover approval

Congrats.
I combined mine in 2021 but I had to go through a few Reps to do this.
Annoyingly, the closed account still shows up when I login.
Congratulations on your Discover approval!
