Hey,
I was under the impression by reading on here that I was blacklisted by AMEX from a charge off from them in my early 20s. Today I received a pre-qualify invitation from them in the mail for the Green Charge Card. Are these just general mailers or do they tend to be pretty good pre-qualify offers?
thank you
Seems like the only way to know if you're still on it is to apply for one of their cards.
My experience: I had a CO with them back in 2001. Heard about their blacklist and didn't bother to apply for credit with them. Back in September of this year, I pulled my credit reports and noticed that AMEX had been SP my Experian report for months. Then in early October I got an offer for their EveryDay card. I knew that my scores were not where they needed to be to get approved, but I wanted to apply to see what the response would be. So I took the HP for research. I was denied for one thing.. my score. No mention of a past negative history or anything else. Today, I received another offer from them for the same card, so it looks like I'm off the blacklist. When my scores get closer to 700, I'll try again.
Someone mentioned something about not getting a HP if you're still on their list. Your application won't be accepted. Or something to that affect.
Keep both your credit and your body in top shape!

thanks for your advice and experience!
I'll app in the morning or in a few minutes if I get the nerve lol
I'm blacklisted due to mistakes I made in my teens. I started getting pre-qualified notices for the gold card recently. I decided to apply but was instantly declined with no HP and the standard "We closed your previous account" message. The account was charged off well over a decade ago. I hope you have better luck!
ALso, just remember that debt is the most marketed product in the world. I wouldn't imagine they filter out who's on a naughty list. That would take too much effort rather than just stuffing envelopes and sending them on their way. That's not to say you won't get it though.

So I decided to go ahead and apply and I got a message to call a 1-800 number with a reference code within the next 24 hours to process application.
Sounds like a no/decline.
It would just say declined it it was a flat out denial.... Amex has never sugar coated my denials in the past, granted I don't have a BK.. Wouldn't think it would be any different with a denial or approval

Okay, thanks. I'll go ahead and call. it says the line is open 24 hrs a day.
The man on the phone told me I need to fax them copies of my 2013 tax return, my last two months of pay stubs and my last two month of checking statements with a reference number.
He said if I fax tonight, I may find out something tomorrow through phone or email, or I will receive a letter in 7-10 days.
Sounds to me like you are close to an approval...
