This is absolutely crazy! I got my Best Buy Visa card over 15 years ago with a starting limit of $1000. For the first 14 years I never missed a payment, was never late, but every time I went for a limit increase I would get denied. I'd work on the reason for the denial and get denied for a different reason. Citi hard pulls your credit to get increases on the Best Buy card, so I wasted a lot of hard pulls over the years.
A little over a year ago, in year 14 I decided to try once again and I asked to go from $1000 to $15,000. They countered and increased me to $13,000. I was extremely grateful and happy to finally get increased! With the Best Buy card you can get increases every 6 months. So today I decided since it has been 13 months to shoot my shot again. I actually wanted to go from $13,000 to $25,000. After reading a few posts on this forum I decided to shoot for the moon and make it $30,000. I applied on the website, they hard pulled Equifax, and just like last year gave me a message to call them.
Called them and the rep said to assist with this limit increase they would need to transfer me to their Recon Team. The Recon Team rep verified some info such as name, net salary, mortgage and asked me if I would like to include any assets too for them to consider. I provided them my portfolio's balance and they put me on hold for 5 minutes. Came back and said we can increase you to $28,400! I was estatic! I would've been more than content with $25,000 so to get an extra $3400 on top of that was the cherry on top. Hard to believe in the span of 13 months I've gotten a $12,000 increase and then a $15,400 increase after being stuck at $1000 for 14 years!
