Re: Absolutely Crazy Best Buy CLI

CLI is not always a good thing.  It depends on your total credit profile.

I'd assume CC banks set a cap on the total credit they will open.  It is based on cardholders' total income.  It may be 3x, 4x.  I do not know.  When we reach this cap, it will become harder to open new credit.  So it is important to manage the credit space.

This comes into play when your credit profile is mature and you have strong credit.  Then you want to keep CL with the cards that you can use to receive good rewards.

All those cards are your assets and you want to keep them active to generate return for you.  Do not keep them idle.

Re: Absolutely Crazy Best Buy CLI

Congratulations!!!

I got my card in 2005 and am still stuck at $1,800.  Never received an auto increase either.  Then again, I have never requested a CLI.

@shane1978 I'm so sorry to hear that! You may have to request one eventually! If you do, best wishes to you when you ask! I've had multiple reps tell me the only way to get an increase was to request it and that they don't do auto increases.

Re: Absolutely Crazy Best Buy CLI

Well I was surprised a few days ago with an auto increase from $1,800 to $2,700.  Only took a decade and a half.

Similar boat. Got my card in 2007. Got an increase once from $1k to $2k. Might have been by request, I can't remember. If it was by request it was the only time I've made a request. Got an auto increase a few months ago to $3k. My lowest limit card.
