Recently about two months ago I was approved for a 3x cli with amex with high utilization. I wrote a post about it saying as long as you pay off your balances and spend a lot Amex will grant you your wishes.
Three weeks ago I applied for a Blue Cash card by Amex for the 10% 6 month resturant bonus and 100$ cashback after 1k in purchases. Plus I wanted to replace my cap one qs one card since it has an annual fee and was tired of asking for PC every month with customer support and getting denied.
I really didin't think I would get approved since I had about 75% util on my everyday card and was carrying over a balance since I just came back from vacation; bam approved for 5K limit!
As happy as I could be, times are getting a bit tough and I need to save more money; need a safety net just incase my company lays more people off. I decide to sell my car, take a negative hit and pay out of pocket using amex, and use amex again to purchase more things. 75% util on my everyday card, 80% util on my blue cash card and I get an offer saying to apply for the Amex PRG card two weeks after blue cash approval. Since I sold my car and have no more monthly payments, I decided to go for it and see if I could get approved. I paid off my last statement balance on my Everyday card before applying. Plus I fly to Australia quite frequently and needed a better travel card than the Venture One I have.
Instantly approved, didn't even get a confirmation screen verifying your soft pull with a hard pull after initial approval, been about two weeks and I don't see any hard pulls from either cards; maybe I got lucky or it'll come up eventually once everything catches up.
Overall very happy with Amex! All happened in under six months!

When I was approved for my Platinum (on the 100K link day in November), I didnt get a HP either... I also had 3 Amex revolvers at that point as well
I still have yet to see a HP, so you probably arent going to see one at all
Congratulations on your AmEx approval!!!
Congratualtions on the Amex approval, its very interesting how you know the stutus that your cards are on with balances that are caried over and still get an approval. I think they look at more that what we consider when we apply.
Thank you everyone!
I think so too, although my utilization is high I do pay off my statement balance when needed which may have helped a lot. I just found it interesting how I got approved both times for the blue cash and prg card with high utilization each time.
As of current all three amex cards are under 25% util combined, so maybe they predicted the future or something haha.
Overall very pleased with Amex.
