Been a couple months since I posted about my last surprising step in my credit journey (Got a 1k to 3k CLI from the fickle Discover). Got an even bigger surprise today: approved for Amex Delta Platinum with 10k SL
Decided to do the "apply with no hit to your credit" since I have also reduced a lot of debt in the past couple months; I was expecting another "We cannot approve you today, feel free to try..." message. This time the spinner took a bit longer and came back with a "do you want to other users?" window, a bit of hope started to creep in; still had a step after this page to actually submit, so I didn't get too excited. Skipped adding other users and then hit the submit on that page. Got some more spinner, I waited and expected to see the "Try again another day." Then it came back, "Approved!" I was excited, yet still somewhat dubious because I still had to hit the "accept" and take the hard pull; figured it could still get denied at this point, not counting my chickens yet (but I have started walking slowly to the coop).
To my surprise it came back with the "welcome" stuff, card mailing date, and SL of 10K! That's what I had combined total with my Discover, Visa, QS1, and Sportsmans Warehouse lol. They hit Experian and TU: 730 and 739 respectively, 3% util.
Big step for me getting back to a point where I can play with the big boys, instead of dealing with the sharks (Cap One gave me a $100 CLI lol. Ditching the QS1 very quickly, especially since AF is coming up soon, such a joke of a card) Was a big goal of mine to get into the Amex fold; while it's not the end-all-be-all, it is a certain sense of accomplishment for me.

Congratulations!
Congratulations. It's an excellent card.

Congratulations on your approval.
I think this is the first time I've heard of Amex double-pulling.
Fortunately, there's usually no HP on any additional Amex cards for which you might apply down the road.

Indeed it is a great feeling!
I didn't know about being able to toss a charge card app in along with it; I really wasn't anticipating an approval, so I was more in shock, followed by giddiness and floating
That being said, I don't want to poke the bear anyway; AmEx has been wary of me up to this point so I'm going to just be quiet for awhile and avoid spooking them by doing anything like seeking more credit, or even looking at them the wrong way lol.
