No you don't need boa checking you can use any checking account I used my Wells Fargo just give them your routing number and acct number. I just did that in late December my account opened on 01-02-17

Submitted m Wells Fargo check for 99$ along with the paper app, via snail mail. Let's see what happens . On the back of the mailer was my FICO EQ 699 however I was declined for only 1 reason - too many INQ

Yes you should be fine. I did mine on the internet when it gave me the counter I filled in my routing number and acct number couple days later they ach my checking the 99.00 I still haven't used my card yet doesn't cycle till 2-12 and they have yet to charge me the 39 annual fee. You should get into navy federal they gave me unsecured card they have very relaxed credit granting everybody is getting approved join their the navy league San Diego see the posts I have a doubter but now I am believer I was skeptical till I tried it myself.

I'm sure we didn't miss approval by much scores are decent enough yours 699 and mine is now 681 I believe on exp. tu is my highest at 690

There have been more than a few applicants in the 700 range that have been turned down for a BofA card, and been offered a 99/500

When he does receive that mail tell him to call in and do the deposit over the phone. I mailed in my check and it took almost 3 wks just to process the check then almost two more weeks to send the card! I'm happy with the card so far tho. I have heard that boa will flip you to unsecured in about 6 months. I hope that's the case for me.

I didn't even wait for the letter when I applied. I called about a week later and they confirmed over the phone it was approved for $500 and that the card should be going out in the mail soon. lol

I have had a BOA checking account for 5+ years.. used to have a savings but closed it within 1-2 years  because it was useless to me..so I already had a good history with them even though they're not even my main bank or seeing a steady income coming in.  In my BOA online account information they kept offering one of the reward cards and when I finally applied and got denied, they offered the 99/500. Pretty sure my scores were under 600 at the time too and it was my first approval. I paid the $99 with my Capital One 360 Checking Account/Debit Card. I guess that looked good to them.. lol
