Hey y'all,
Since my initial post about being somewhat timid asking for CLIs, I decided to ask all my banks for increases. Since I received details in the mail, I thought I would add some data points to the mix.
BoA Travel Rewards VS: Initial limit of $3k, $15k total credit limit request, counter offered to $9k.
BoA in their letter stated that it was lower due to 'economic trends' and that the total credit provided by them/their affiliates was the maximum they would allow (soft pull TransUnion). Not sure if it is my total credit amount with all banks, or if it has to do with my car loan that is only 25% paid off.
Citi Costco Anywhere VS: Initial limit of $18k, raised to $21k.
The only details they asked for was annual gross income, and rent/mortgage monthly payment. They stated that they would not be pulling a credit report. Have not received the letter, as I did the increase about an hour ago. Will update if it has any other relevant information.
Discover it: Initial limit of $10.8k, denied an increase.
Their reasoning was that there was not a lot of activity on the card using the current credit line amount. Spotify is the only recurring charge on the card most months (0.1% utilization). Otherwise it sits in a drawer only being used during 5% promos, mainly dining/resturant in the summer. I do have some car maintenance that I need to do during this current gas promo, and my shop classifies as a gas station. Hopefully with the increased utilization over the next few months, I can get in their good graces.
Happy hunting!
Congratulations on your BofA and Citi CLIs!
Thanks for sharing the DP's and Congrats on the cli's too. You're lucky, I wish our auto shop coded as Gas, that'd be killer!
Congrats on the CLI 's and thanksfor the DPs.
I just know that a story is gonna be good
when it starts with "Hey Y'all"!!!
Congratulations on your credit success
and also thank you for sharing it.
Great data points,
Wishing you much more success
Cheers

Congrats on your increases! When did you get your Citi Costco? How many statements?

Well, I originally got the Costco AmEx card June 2015 in anticipation for the move to Visa and Citi. I had an initial $6k limit (soft pull application as I was an AU for 2-3 years on a Costco Business AmEx, so I had a relationship already). I think it was a little less than a year after I had the card that I asked for a 3X increase, which was approved. That limit moved when the portfolio was bought.
Long story short, I've been a Citi customer since June 2016 and hadn't applied for any increases until today.
Congrats on your CLIs!
Congratulations on your increases! Sorry about the denial.
