I just got off the phone with the Cap One EO. My request was similar to what others have asked for: removal of AF and CLI. The card is a Platinum MC with a 1K CL. I've had it for three years and never received a CLI until I discovered and pushed the luv button a couple months ago - prior to that, the CL was at $500. I never had bad credit - just didn't have an open CC TL at the time and hadn't had one for about six years. My current EQ FICO is 794, not sure the other two scores, but all three reports are the same.
First of all, I emailed the EO about three weeks ago and didn't hear anything, which didn't seem like the great service that many others report. I sent a follow-up yesterday, figuring that my original message got lost in the holiday shuffle, and heard back this evening. The rep told me that they can't PC a card that has an AF to a card that does not have an AF, though she offered me a one-time courtesy credit for next year's AF. She offered to PC my current card to the QS One, since it's the QS card with an AF. The rewards on QS One are .25% better than what I have now, apparently. Is this what everyone else is experiencing? Maybe I've misunderstood what I've read here, but I was under the impression that the EO can PC cards with AFs to the QS with no AF. Did I get the new girl? Or do you just need to call every year to get the AF waived?
Maybe my expectations were too high, but I was expecting the AF removal to be the easy part. If they can give me the CLI that I want, that will partially redeem them in my mind (LOL, I'm sure the Cap One EO doesn't care what I think of them!), but based on the experience so far, I'm not expecting much. Anybody have a disappointing first conversation with the EO and receive a hefty CLI after review?
I didn't try the EO route but I did call a week ago task about a PC or getting my AF dropped. Answer was no can do. So I have a Cap 1 card that sits at $750. I am most likely going to cancel the card before the next fee is due since I don't need it to help with my UTIL. Oh well.
About 2 weeks ago I emailed the EO, and got a call. THey told me they would waive my AF (credit), and put in a request for a CLI.
I got a secure message about 24 hours later informing me that my CLI was denied (as I was given a $500 CLI about 4 months prior).
About 2 days later, while reviewing my account, I noticed my credit limit was raised by about $1,500.
So yes - initally, I was denied a CLI, but magically one appeared.
*Also, about a week ago I asked about getting upgraded to the QS with no AF. They were able to do it.
Hope that helps
I spoked to the EO today about my account. They are changing me to the QuickSilver One as well. They told me the same thing about not being able to get rid of the annual fee.
I'm waiting to hear back about a CLI. *crosses fingers*

I just got mine upgraded to Quicksilver One card but didnt get any mention of an annual fee being added to my non-annual fee card....
Thanks all for responding! Sounds like there's some inconsistency, which is frustrating. Why does Cap One hate me, LOL?
When I calle, they raised my limit from 750 to 1000, converted to Quicksilver One (which is still 1.5% on everything! not .25%), waived this years AF, credited me for last year's, and offered me the option of calling him personally next year and he would be happy to waive it again. for some reason, he couldn't permanently remove the AF, but he made it clear that they would continue to waive it.
I'm having on the same journey.......emailed the EO earlier this week and recieved a call tonight. The CS was very nice and promptly changed me from the No-Hassle Rewards card to the QuickSilver card. I am assuming the one with Annual Fee. I did not ask. She took the additional informaiton needed to submit my request to the underwriters for the CLI. She said she should have an answer for me no later than Monday, but that I should feel free to call her back if I didn't by Monday. FINGERS CROSSED!!!!!!!!! I will report back the results and I hope that you all will too!!!
Yes, I should clarify my original statement: the QS One indeed has 1.5% on everything. I meant that it was only a .25% increase over what I had previously, which was 1.25% on everything.
Weird...my rep specifically said that it was a one-time AF credit.
In any case, glad to hear that I'm not the only one who received the "can't PC from an AF card to a no-AF card" message. She recommended that I app for a no-AF card instead. I'll report back on the CLI once I hear back - good luck to everyone who is waiting!
