I just got approved for the Chase Sapphire Preferred and the credit limit was something ridiculous (edit: >10K), meanwhile I have been stuck with $1500 on my Freedom for two years now. So I called in and see whether I can get a CLI on the Freedom using the same pull for the CSP. Well, no dice, but I am wondering if anyone pulls off something similar?
Obviously I can move some limit from the CSP to the Freedom, but that's somewhat frivolous...
Sounds like a recon to me and congrats
I called the backdoor line to verify my infor for CSP. I had actually talked to two people asking whether it is possible to get a CLI on the Freedom card without a second pull - no dice. Maybe I will just bite the bullet and take the hit of the pull.

Sorry but Chase will not bend no matter how you try to game them via the reconsideration line. They have established policies for each product. If you want a CLI on the other card, then take the HP (or move your credit lines around). Some financial institutuions may allow "piggybacking" while others do not. From a score perspective, sure there will be a nominal hit (depending on your file) but as with anything, it will fade over time and eventually falls off in 2yrs.
+1

I plan on getting a csp eventually. Is it smart to ask for a CLI on my freedom before I app for csp? Incase I'm denied the csp? I feel like if I get denied for the csp then they def won't CLI my freedom. Lol
It all readlly depends on your overall profile. As you know, the CSP is well-sought after and minimum CL is $5K. If your credit file does not have any newly opened tradelines, fairly low inquiries/utilization, no recent derogatory information (> 2 yrs) and scores are north of 700, then the only way to know for sure is when you apply.
As a hypothetical scenario, if your profile is excellent and qualify for $8K+ on the CSP (just throwing a random CL number), you can always shift a portion of your CSP CL to your Freedom thereby avoiding another HP if you still desired a CLI. Again, this is just a hypothetical scenario and would largely depend on your current credit profile.
