You're worse than me. I start checking accounts and credit reports at 12 a.m. in all time zones. *face palm*
Congrats on your CLI and graduation!

I got my Secured Discover card in July 2019. It was my first credit card...ever.
My initial deposit was $500. My 7th statement cut about two weeks ago. My card graduated at literally 12:00 AM on the 5th day post statement cut.
Yes, I checked at exactly 12:00 Am and watched my limit go from $500 to $2500. It was pretty cool.

I did not use this card near as much as my Capital One. My Cap One is definitely my daily driver. With that said I charged roughly 50 to a 150 dollars on the card each month. Made on average 2 to 3 payments per month. Balance was paid to $0 before statement cut 90 percent of the time.
Overall I would definitely recommend this card to "credit beginners". Also, word of advice to those just starting their credit journey, whatever you do try your absolute best to avoid subprime creditors e.g. " credit one". Your future self will thank you.
You wouldn't believe how many "pre approved" mailers they sent within the last 8 months.
Wait. Are you daddy? 🤔😋

Congrats on your forward and upward journey, keep it up!
I often wonder where the starter cards get their leads. Occasionally after reading here or on the net about financials and credit, Credit One and others start targeted advertising at myself between web searches and emails. I just send them to the trash file and laugh as my scores are all over 800. Should you be a member of a Credit Union, they are very helpful in "righting your ship" without sinking you as you pull out of the port to a better destination.
Congratulations man! Just got my boyfriend (34) his first ever credit card last month (Disco Secured). He's great financially, just never believed in credit and reading your seven month success is where we are hoping he will end up in October or so. I agree on all points, especially not going with a subprime lender just to get a card. Disco is fantastic to start with due to the SP CLI and decent cash back/match.
Congratulations again on your credit journey!

Just a great story,
Thanks for sharing it :-)
And congratulations on getting 5 times more credit
on that card. That had to feel good :-)
Cheers
Congrats on graduating!
Your post reads like I wrote it myself. I, too, started with the Discover it secured card (Aug 2019), and I received the email regarding my graduation four days ago. (In light of my Quicksilver being my main card, I don't use my Disco often, either.) I also get junk offers from subprime credit card companies on a weekly basis; but since I'm playing the LONG game as it pertains to rebuilding my credit, I have ZERO interest in those.
Can you help me with two questions? Why do you say avoid Subprime Cards? I have a Credit One along with a Mission Bank that are Subprime. But I also have a Chase Freedom, Capital one Spark, and Capital one PLatinum, Discover Secured, Amazon, Paypal Card. This is all after BK discharge in 2017. I would want to close the Credit One since I really dont use it, but dont want to removed a good tradeline.
Can you help me understand why no Subprime?
@Anonymous Congrats on the Disco Graduation!
