Discover App

I have tried to apply for Discover and never was approved. I have one CO and one collection both payed off. They will both be removed on April of 2016. I have a TU score of 767 Walmart FICO. I have one reason INQ on the 27 Dec 2014. What does every one think?

Yep, I have had Capital one since 2008, they are OK. High APR and low CL.

What was your score when you previously applied? How long ago was that?

Your score doesn't seem like it should prevent you from getting a Discover IT card. It's not always about just the score though.

Re: Discover App

Discover is funny. The only reason i even have one is that they mailed a preapproval back when my file was paper thin. 16 months later i still have the same SL because they never done an auto-cli and i don't have the stomach to allow them another HP anymore

Jul 2013 about 700 with one unpaid CO and that is why the app was turned down, now every thing is paid and about a year left on the CO and collection.

Re: Discover App

IMO discover isn't worth it.. Go for a Freedom.. Same concept rotating Categories and most likely you won't get a low SL..  Obviously other Discover fans will counter this logic.   Discover either likes you and gives you a decent limit or doesn't, Chase seems to be a bit more liberal with their CL's or initial CL's.  Either way I wish you luck either way you go.

Chase is one of the CO's, they told me that I can never get an account with them again.

I think if they are paid now, you should be fine. I had one paid collection and one paid tax lien when I applied for my Discover. My score was around 680 or 690 at the time.  I think applying with an unpaid CO is what caused your denial.   I have been very happy with Discover. I like it over the Freedom because I have been able to get CLI with SP's.

Never say never, but I understand what you are saying ...  Discover is weird you might get a 1.5k SL or a higher one..  Doesn't citi havef a similliar rotating category card as well?  Or just want to get in with Discover?  Looked at Huntington card or possibly the Sallie Mae?
