Just thought this was amusing. I've had my DiscoverIT card since 2017. I had the highest APR available (23.74%) and a credit limit of $9100. I called a couple of months ago and explained that I've been a card holder for a long time, no missed payments, credit score was 777 according to my bank that month, and that I deserved a lower APR. They did their magic and offered me 19.24% which wasn't great but at least it was better.
So, today I decided to just apply for a new DiscoverIT card, as I had heard that you could have more than one. Instantly approved with a $8500 credit limit and an APR of 12.74% (the lowest they offer)!! Why they couldn't just give that to me for my original account I do not know, but it's irritating.
Congrats on the approval!
Congrats to you on your apporval and the lowest rate they offer ![]()
Congratulations on your Discover It approval!

Congratulations @clumsymoon.
Not to take away your success, but terms like 'long time' and 'deserve' are kinda subjective. The new app/card was a HP so that could a piece into the reasoning.
I will mention that you could try call/chat to combine the older card into the new one. (Over the past few years Discover has fluctuated on its requirements/availability on combining cards-so just be aware...)

Indeed. To note I wouldn't call a permanent 4% drop not great. All you have to do is keep calling in every 6 months to request an apr reduction. Easy peasy. They may even offer new 0% apr for 12 months. In this regards they are better than most other lenders. ![]()

Nice move, grats on the new card and the low APR!
Congratulations on your Discover APR reduction and second card approval!
