Finally PNC Bank

Greetings all.  You all have done it once again.  I check in from time to time, mainly because my credit approval world has been significantly limited.  Well late last month, my student loans, a whopping $165,000 went poof (PSLF), so I decided to poke the bear one final time.  I had applied to PNC over the years and they always came back with "your balances are too high".  I knew it was always the student loan because that was the largest balance I had and it started at $120,000 but had blossomed into the dreaded $165,000.  I first checked with a preapproval with Upgrade card which came back with 25k.  I didn't take the bait and apply because I read that it was a bait and switch.  Nevertheless that led me to CITI or PNC.  I have 5 cards with CITI now so I said I'm going full throttle with PNC.  Hit the apply button last night and got the dreaded 2 day message.  I thought to myself that was clearly a denial because I've seen that message from them so many times.  I decided to call underwriting this morning.  I was told that I had to speak to a senior underwriter to verify some information.  At this time, I knew I was going to be approved.  They verified name, address and SSN and then you're approved.  Not the starting limit I was hoping for but definitely not the rejection that I had gotten so many times before.  I'm finally in with one of the few banks that I couldn't get in.  Well I guess I was getting in one way or another, thanks to the BBVA sell to PNC.

DP:  EX 754, 3 Inq/12 months, 1 Inq/6 months; 3 new accounts/12 months (9 months, 7 months, 2 months)

Re: Finally PNC Bank

@JNA1 Thanks.  I've read that they are pretty good on SP CLI's every 6 months.  I'm hoping to jump on that train in 6 months.

They have been for me so far. I got a lower SL on mine I think because I applied at tr end of a 5 card spree last December. I had a ton HP's by the time I app'd for the PNC card, so they only gave me a $5K SL. I got a SP $3K CLI at 6 months and I'm eligible again on Christmas Day for another, so I'll let you know if I get another one. I hope I get mine over $10K this time.
