Congrats on the Cash Magnet! I hope that you......oh.
In all seriousness, I would try a different rep and see if they have similar advice.
Congrats on your approval , nice SL !!!!
I believe if you wanted to app again you could. I got my everyday and PRG on the same day. You can apply for 1 revolver and 1 charge card. If you want to apply for a 2nd revolver I think you have to wait 5 business days

I applied to Amex today and was going for the everyday American Express card. But somehow I must have clicked the Box on the cash magnet card and before I could catch it it sent it in. I was approved for a starting line of $5,000 but that's not the card that I want. I wanted the AmEx everyday I called into the rep and she said I could either reapply today or wait till the card comes in the mail and try to change it after it arrives. My question is should I reapply today for the card I want from Amex today or should I wait until I get the cash magnet and then try to change products? I don't want to make it look fraudulent or weird if I apply for two Amex cards in the same day what do you think I should do?
Super Congrats on your Amex approval, even if it wasn't the card you intended.
Amex has a "2 for 1" where you can app for 1 revolving card (ED or Amex Magnet)
and 1 charge card (like Amex Green or PRG) on the same hard pull within 30 days.
In addition, forum members have reported being approved for 2 Amex
revolvers and 1 charge card within 90 days. So Yes, you can still apply
for your EveryDay card without looking "fraudulent or weird" within
the next 3 months. With that said, you might end up liking the Amex
Magnet after you get it. Serendipity might be tapping you on the shoulder.
Congrats once again on your Amex approval, and thanks for sharing!
Cash Magnet is a cash back card whereas Everyday is a Membership Rewards earning card. Amex does not typically allow product changes from one reward type (cash) to another (points). There could be extenuating circumstances but in the end if you wait after today they will likely tell you to close Cash Magnet and reapply for Everyday.
I would take the advice of everybody above me in that you should apply for Everyday today so that you only have 1 inquiry. Then, if approved, call and ask them to cancel the Cash Magnet. If its too late to cancel, wait for both cards to be received and then close Cash Magnet. You will then likely need to contact their credit reporting division to ask that the Cash Magnet trade line be removed from your credit bureau.
