No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
Finally pulled the trigger on a AmEx Green Card (AXG) to take advantage of the points multiplier on transit. Went online to my account and it said pre-approved. But when I hit "apply" it came back with the ominous message "we're reviewing...".
Called them. I've been an AmEx cardholder for 40 years (Jan '81) and already have AEP and AXP so I was pretty surprised at their reaction.
Thought it might be because my credit files are all frozen, but thought they didn't HP on existing accounts.
Turns out, with an online application, they wanted to confirm my address. HUH? They've been sending me bills (and replacement cards) for 40 years. They said it was a fraud prevention thing, but then one has to wonder why that's a concern if I'm logged on to my account. They don't use 2FA so maybe that's why?
Anyway, a nice little bump first thing in the morning. Moral: if that happens, call them and ask them to explain themselves. So long to the Garden Club.
@Anonymous have you been approved or is it still pending?

Congratulations on your Green approval! ...
Grats on the approval!
Companies love to waste time, especially credit issuers, there was no reason for this to have happened in a sane world. Grats on the green!
Congratulations on your Amex Green approval!
Wow 40 years! Great work! That's amazing.
