Quick question.  How will the CLI affect the amex app later.  Is it better to app for card without the increase showing on CR yet, or wait for the increase to show on CR before apping.  Just curious if it makes a difference in initial limit offerings.

Thanks in advance!

Depends on your income.

If your income is going to be a limiting factor, then Amex will decline or issue a low CL simply because of the amount of available credit you already have vs. your income.

If your income isn't going to be a limiting factor, having another high CL reporting, may help you get a higher CL with Amex.

Re: Looking for pointers

Income is average.  Not sure 2k will make a huge difference for initial limit, but it will be there when I try the 3x CLI in 2 months.  I would imagine if it were to help at all, it would be more beneficial when requesting the CLI.  Could be wrong as well.  Anyway, utilization is as good as it is going to get.  Decided to app for Amex BCE and was approved.  Not sure of the limit... but officially in the garden for a long time.  Smiley Happy

Thanks for the help everyone!

There is an automated app line that week give you cl. Can't recall number but you can do a search to get it.

Called to find I have a $3500 initial CL.  With the 3x CLI, this will put me on target for my goal Smiley Happy

Re: Looking for pointers

What number did you call if you don't mind?  Did you need any information?  My card should be here tomorrow or Friday, but would like to know a little about it, lol. Thanks!

1800-528-4800 (main customer service number from website).  Push # when asked for credit card number.  Enter the last 5 of your card number (found in your email after application).  Enter zip, enter last 4 social, and... finally it will tell you your balance, next pay, and your limit.

Re: Looking for pointers

Just wanted to update that the card came in today, and was surprised at my score Smiley Happy.  Not going to be in the market for a house for a long time, so hopefully in the garden for the next 2 years to let the inquiries fall off.  Would I benefit from freezing my reports?  Also should I wait to freeze after trying 3x CLI?

Thanks in advance!

Head on over to the garden for support

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?
