About three weeks ago i went ahead and asked via chat if i could have my macys card upgraded to the amex version. CSR said they will get back to me in a month!
Today i checked if i recent payment i made has been posted and saw the image of my card had the amex logo. 
Went ahead to the chat and asked what my CL was but was told i need to check back in 72 hours because it was converted today ! but i know my CL for the macys is 1.5k so hopefully it will be atleast 3k we will see.
woohooo i will look cooler paying with the amex version haha
Update:
Just woke up and went to the chat line and ask the CSR to see if my credit line was available since i still didnt know. she told me the account finished processing and i was giving 3k for the macys amex line (which can be used anywhere) i know i have higher cards but hey it pads down uti and it was a SP !!
when should i ask for an incrase on that line? hmmn

will be updating it now! this approval makes up for the Amex denial! and im glad both were soft pulls!
From other store cards i would not know. i know the amex gives two credit lines to use anywhere where amex is used and a macys line. and other perks like travel offers and things like that. and if i spend over 1k in a year you get better rewards which i do
