I admit this one was rather unexpected. Then again, we're talking about NFCU here, and they are well-known for 'surprises'. ![]()
Skipping ahead to the part that matters, I received a notification from Experian that one of my accounts had received a credit line increase. I checked the Experian alert, then the NFCU app, and sure enough, my Go Rewards Visa has been increased from $20.2k to $24.2k.

This is notable since I've only given this card minimal use after earning the sign-up bonus back in 2018, that is until recently. Back in March I took them up on the 1.99% BT promo for around ~$3k, and I've been making $200/month payments on the balance (min. payment is only $55). Apparently that was enough to put me on the radar for an auto-CLI. (I've never requested a CLI for this account.)
They (NFCU) are showing my EQ FICO 9 at 798 as of 5/6/2021. My recent shenanigans new credit additions aren't reporting yet (other than my new installment loan that started reporting last week) but that might not have mattered anyway. The account was opened back in July 2018, original thread is here: https://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-Card-Approvals/NFCU-Go-Rewards-Visa-Approved/m-p/5289209
Oddly I have mixed-feelings on this. I had in the back of my mind possibly going for the More Rewards Amex at some point, but now I have to wonder how close I am to the maximum exposure for my modest resources, keeping in mind I also have a Platinum MC with a $24k credit line. I admit this isn't the worst problem one could have, and a few years ago I would have welcomed this concern.
Hopefully some will find these data points helpful. ![]()
