No such thing as the Double Cash World Elite MasterCard?

Hey guys,

I witnessed references around here to the Citi Double Cash Card including World or World Elite status in some cases, so I called Citi to inquire.  I'm not super snobby about my benefits or anything (lol), but one of the reasons I was interested in applying is that I had heard it was possible to receive World Elite card benefits with the Double Cash.  Currently my credit is quite good (800+ FICO) and I have six cards total... this would likely be my last for a while.

However, the rep was adamant that there was in fact no such thing as a World or World Elite status Double Cash card.

Any ideas/input?  Thanks!

It DOES exist. There are at least 2 other posters (-Cal- and someone else) who have it. -Cal- even posted a picture of it.

Citi CSRs are notoriously clueless. Take anything they say with a grain of salt.

+1  Humuhumu... reported she got one and they're have been several others.

Its not just Citi CSRs that are clueless.  Sadly thats the case with a lot of these credit card companies.

LOL.  OK guys.  So I spoke with someone in customer service (as opposed to credit apps) and he informed me that World Elite status is actually an account-specific consideration and not a credit card classification listing per say... whatever that means.  So essentially the CSRs in the credit app dept have no awareness of the differences between the various card designations.

With that in mind, I app'd and was approved for a CLI of 12K just now.  I have no idea if that automatically qualifies me for anything with regard to World/World Elite status or if I'll have to call back in the future to request an upgrade consideration.  I can say that this is my first banking relationship with Citi to date, so that may not help matters.  Heh!

Did anyone receive a card with such a classification outright without having done business with Citi prior to then?

Yes. I had no prior business relationship with Citi and received a World Elite Mastercard in August. Apparently it has useable features attached to World Elite Status, but I just use it as a double cash back card and have not really explored all of the features attached to it at this point. It's a great card.

Perhaps someone else who has used the features will be able to answer as well.

I think most DC go out as World.  Mine did.  I did have a relationship with Citi prior to applying however.
