I came out of the garden to get the new Pathfinder AMEX from PenFed and was approved with a $7k starting limit.
Reviews are great for this card putting it on par with the benefits offered by the Chase Sapphire products. 4x points on travel w/ a PenFed checking account (3x) without and 1.5x on everything else. 25,000 point signup bonus with a $2500 spend in the first 3 months. Also 0% transfers for 12 months (which PenFed seems to just about always have.) $100 per year airline incidentals credit and $100 TSA PreCheck credit.
You get the most value on points redeeming for hotels, and since moving out of NYC I stay in hotels for work 3 nights/week and was looking to maximize savings. I'm not eligible for the comparable cards from the other lenders as they were included in my BK, so this seems to be a great option.
Data points: they pulled a 675 on my EQ. I have 30% overall utilization (all 0%, so I haven't been in a hurry to pay) with one card reporting $0 and no cards reporting over 50%. Student loan reporting that I kept current through the BK. 5 inquiries on each bureau. I opened my PenFed accounts in March 2017 including a cash rewards CC that started at $2k and went to $18k at 85 days.
Happily going back to the garden ![]()
Congrats on your new card!
Congrats! I just got that card and the Power Cash at the same time, so I've been running everything through them to get the bonuses. Almost there on one, half way on the other. ![]()
